HarmonyOS Sans
HarmonyOS Sans SC
Type specimen
The specimen uses the official Google Fonts subset when available, otherwise a font installed on this device. If neither exists the browser falls back to a system font, so treat the official download page as authoritative.
About this font
Released with HarmonyOS in 2021 and designed by the Hanyi team, HarmonyOS Sans began as the system face of Huawei's operating ecosystem before being opened for free commercial use. It is a multi-script, variable typeface: five writing systems - Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Latin, Cyrillic, Greek and Arabic - across 105 languages, with an infinite weight axis from Thin to Black. Function-first yet human: short strokes are geometric and squared, while long sweeps carry calligraphic entry and exit, giving technology interfaces warmth; open counters and a squarish body keep it crisp from car dashboards to wall-sized screens. Riding Huawei's install base, it is quietly becoming the default look of Chinese UI design.
Where it works best
Use it wherever you need system-grade neutrality: app and web UI, smart-device interfaces, corporate sites, keynote titles, chart labels, multilingual products shipping overseas. The variable file lets front-end developers dial exact weights through font-variation-settings, enabling magazine-like type scales. Picks: Regular/Medium for UI, Bold for emphasis, and try hairline Thin for futuristic posters. Downloading from Huawei's design-resources page requires a developer account; when embedding the font in your own shipped app, declare the use of HarmonyOS Sans as the licence asks. Regional cuts (SC/TC) are provided - pick what your audience reads.
