About this font
A heavyweight regular script from Alimama and Makefont, released under iconfont's free-font program in 2021. It follows brush dakai canon - hidden-tip entries, full-pressure middles, guarded exits, willow-leaf diagonals, dropping-dot ticks - while enlarging bodies and straightening gravity, trading a little calligraphic spontaneity for typographic stability: passages carry scholarly breath without jumping lines. Its Google Fonts listing (Alimama DongFangDaKai) makes it one of very few Chinese brush faces embeddable straight on the web. Common CJK plus basic Latin, made for guochao titles, heritage packaging and verse.
Where it works best
Guochao headlines, solar-term posters, tea and baijiu packaging, verse cards, documentary chapter pages, scenic signage. Rules: thick strokes blur under 20 px - start at 24; for flowing passages choose a slender kai like LXGW WenKai and save Dongfang for one loud sentence; on bilingual screens let a Garamond-grade serif Latin hold the frame.
