About this font

The JiangCheng family is a series of stylised Chinese faces by engineer-artist Liu Peng (@设裂星辰), batch-built from open-source Source Han Sans / Serif so designers get usable editorial variants without hand-slanting per job. JiangCheng XieSong keeps Source Han Serif's dignified skeleton and tilts it about 12 degrees right, blending serif contrast - thin horizontals, thick verticals, triangular feet - with a flash of manuscript energy. Great for book titles on reprints, subtitles, cultural editorial headers, and e-commerce posters needing upright authority with motion. The official repository ships ZIPs with a full OFL licence for safe commercial use.

Where it works best

Best for book covers and titles - literary, historical, humanistic - film-poster subtitles, cultural column headers, editorial accents, and as a Chinese italic substitute. Single-line display headlines carry the slant best; balance the angle against upright body text.

Licence and commercial boundaries

Licence:SIL Open Font License 1.1

The dominant permissive licence for open fonts: free commercial use, modification, embedding and redistribution. Its core duties are that derivatives stay under OFL without the Reserved Font Name, the licence text travels with the files, and the fonts themselves are never sold standalone. Works typeset with them belong wholly to you.

SIL OFL 1.1: free commercial use, embeddable, modifiable under OFL with reserved-name rules; no standalone sale. Built on Adobe/Google's OFL Source Han Serif, so keep upstream copyright and reserved-name conventions when redistributing.

Hard restrictions

  • A display face - avoid long body copy.
  • No standalone sale.
