About this font
Its designer, Łukasz Dziedzic, named it 'Summer' - and the temperament fits: a serious grotesque skeleton with softened joints, linear and professional at text sizes, slowly warmer as it grows. Ten weights plus italics, Central-European coverage; evergreen on corporate sites, résumés and SaaS landing pages, once topping a billion monthly Google Fonts serves. One degree more human than Inter - right for communicating that is professional without being cold.
Lato's friendliness lives in its softened caps and figures - the leg of R, the ear of G, the ends of 3 and 7. Google Fonts carries the Latin cut only; pick the author's full OFL package for Baltic or Turkish completeness. There is no official monospace companion.
Where it works best
Corporate and institutional sites, consultancy and education brands, hiring pages, deck templates. Picks: 400 text, 700/900 heads tracked tight; pairing with a serif headline (Playfair, PT Serif) is the classic safe play.

The dominant permissive licence for open fonts: free commercial use, modification, embedding and redistribution. Its core duties are that derivatives stay under OFL without the Reserved Font Name, the licence text travels with the files, and the fonts themselves are never sold standalone. Works typeset with them belong wholly to you.
