Pacifico
Pacifico - the retro freeflow script with a surf twang
Type specimen
The specimen uses the official Google Fonts subset when available, otherwise a font installed on this device. If neither exists the browser falls back to a system font, so treat the official download page as authoritative.
About this font
Pacifico is Vernon Adams' 2011 retro freeflow script for Google Fonts, named for the laid-back Pacific coast. It refines 1950s-70s American signage and film-title brush scripts: leaning letters, plump curves and natural open joins, as if scrawled on a storefront with a wide marker. A single Regular cut with balanced contrast and unusually good legibility for a display script; later redrawn by Jacques Le Bailly and Cyrillic-extended by Lettersoup. Everywhere on the web for coffee shops, food, lifestyle and maker brands. SIL OFL 1.1 - unrestricted commercial use, freely embeddable, no standalone sale.
Where it works best
For coffee and restaurants, dessert and craft shops, lifestyle and travel blogs, posters and invites, packaging names and social covers. Use large with generous whitespace; all-lowercase and initial-caps both work; pair Latin with a Chinese hei; avoid formal documents and long paragraphs.

Licence and commercial boundaries
Licence:SIL Open Font License 1.1
The dominant permissive licence for open fonts: free commercial use, modification, embedding and redistribution. Its core duties are that derivatives stay under OFL without the Reserved Font Name, the licence text travels with the files, and the fonts themselves are never sold standalone. Works typeset with them belong wholly to you.
SIL OFL 1.1: free commercial use, embeddable, modifiable under OFL with reserved-name rules; no standalone sale. Upstream at googlefonts/pacifico.
Hard restrictions
- Single decorative weight.
- Latin only - pair a Chinese face.
- No standalone sale.
