Sarasa Gothic
Sarasa Gothic - Inter, Source Han Sans and Iosevka merged into one crisp multilingual family
Type specimen
The specimen uses the official Google Fonts subset when available, otherwise a font installed on this device. If neither exists the browser falls back to a system font, so treat the official download page as authoritative.
About this font
Sarasa Gothic is Renzhi Li's (Belleve Invis) open project launched in 2018, merging Inter's Latin, Source Han Sans / Noto Sans CJK's Han forms and a touch of Iosevka into one crisp, compact, eye-friendly multilingual family. It ships Gothic, Gothic UI, Mono, Term and Fixed lines split by region - SC, CL, TC, HC, J and K cover every platform Han variant - plus Slab and sans-italic cuts. Broad, steady letterforms stay legible at small sizes on screens and in code, making it a go-to install for developers. A Variable build spans the weight axis from 260 to 800. Released under SIL OFL 1.1 - free commercial use, redistribution and embedding without payment or attribution.
Where it works best
For code and developer tools, desktop and mobile UIs, technical docs and API manuals, mixed Chinese-Latin body copy and e-books. Use regular weight for body and Sarasa Mono for code; pick the SC/CL cut for simplified-Chinese projects; the bundled Latin means no second western face is needed. Its even strokes read more as text than display - reach for Source Han Sans for wide headlines.

Licence and commercial boundaries
Licence:SIL Open Font License 1.1
The dominant permissive licence for open fonts: free commercial use, modification, embedding and redistribution. Its core duties are that derivatives stay under OFL without the Reserved Font Name, the licence text travels with the files, and the fonts themselves are never sold standalone. Works typeset with them belong wholly to you.
SIL OFL 1.1: free for personal and commercial use, modifiable, embeddable and freely distributable with software and documents; derivatives must stay under OFL with reserved-name rules and the files themselves may not be sold standalone. The LICENSE in the official be5invis/Sarasa-Gothic repository governs.
Hard restrictions
- Derivatives must carry OFL 1.1.
- No standalone sale.
- Pick the SC/CL cut for simplified Chinese - many variants.
Commercial-use FAQ
Which cut is simplified Chinese?
SC and CL are simplified; TC is Taiwan, HC Hong Kong, J Japanese and K Korean. The default Gothic package bundles regional sub-families.
