Yomeng Script

Yomeng Script is l-thoms's 2025 open-source Chinese handwriting face, a rework of the OFL-licensed Japanese font Yomogi whose rounded, softly-drawn strokes and handcrafted feel make it a natural fit for adorable layouts. The author extended the glyph set with the CJK basic block characters that everyday simplified Chinese requires, giving Yomogi's plump curves, gentle width variation and charmingly uneven rhythm a proper Chinese word set. Playful without being childish, it suits bubble-tea and dessert menus, stationery and journals, sticker packaging, children's books and short-video captions. Under SIL OFL 1.1 it is free for ads, packaging, film, marks, embedded apps and the web, and may be modified and redistributed with derivatives under OFL and reserved names dropped. Focus is simplified CJK-basic coverage - rare, traditional and full GB18030 sets are out of scope, so test target copy before large projects. The dominant permissive licence for open fonts: free commercial use, modification, embedding and redistribution. Its core duties are that derivatives stay under OFL without the Reserved Font Name, the licence text travels with the files, and the fonts themselves are never sold standalone. Works typeset with them belong wholly to you.

SIL OFL 1.1. Free for every common commercial use (ads, packaging, film, marks, embedded apps, web). Modifications and redistribution must stay under OFL, include the licence text and use a new name (reserved names dropped).
