About this font
Huiwen ZhengKai is the regular-script sibling of the Huiwen family, sharing the same letterpress lineage and near-CC0 author-declared licensing as Huiwen Mincho. Kai is China's standard handwriting model - measured strokes, gentle ink trails - traditionally used for primers, epitaphs and colophons. Rather than perfect digital calligraphy, Huiwen ZhengKai returns to old lead-type kai: uneven ink pools at the joins, slight tonal drift, the feel of a Republican-era textbook or a hand-addressed wedding envelope. It spans 20k+ glyphs (GBK build aligned to mainland norms). Perfect for book titles, invitations, certificates, classical-style covers and heritage-brand signage; avoid small body point sizes where the texture muddies. Same generous terms as the family: free commercial use, no credit, embedding and redistribution allowed, never sell the font files; author-declared rather than standardised text.
Where it works best
Book titles, wedding invitations, certificates, classical covers, period-film subtitles, elegant heritage signage. Prefer medium-plus sizes; pair with the rest of the Huiwen family and patch missing glyphs within it; check the GBK build before formal use.

The author waives nearly all rights - maximum freedom; used by personal projects like Huiwen, usually keeping one baseline: the font files may not themselves be sold. Without standard legal text, the release page is the source - screenshot it.
