About this font
Nanum Gothic is the open Korean gothic (sans) released by Korean tech giant NAVER and one of the most widely used Korean interface fonts on Google Fonts. It is engineered for screens - open counters, disciplined stroke structure and a well-balanced x-height that keep small Hangul crisp in mobile UI and web body copy - while also covering Latin letters and digits. NAVER's search-scale polish makes it restrained and dependable, pairing with their serif Nanum Myeongjo for complete Korean body and display coverage. Where it works best
Best for Korean UI, Korea-market websites and support documents, body text and data panels, and general Korean typesetting that wants neutrality. Use 400/500 for interface body and 700/800 for headings. In Chinese-first layouts, keep it for Korean-facing content and accents.

Licence and commercial boundaries

The dominant permissive licence for open fonts: free commercial use, modification, embedding and redistribution. Its core duties are that derivatives stay under OFL without the Reserved Font Name, the licence text travels with the files, and the fonts themselves are never sold standalone. Works typeset with them belong wholly to you.
SIL OFL 1.1. Free for every commercial use, embeddable and webfont-safe, modifiable and redistributable. Derivatives stay OFL without the reserved Nanum names, carry the licence text, and are never sold standalone.
Hard restrictions
- Derivatives stay OFL and drop the Nanum reserved names.

Commercial-use FAQ
Nanum Gothic or Noto Sans KR?
Noto Sans KR is fuller and more neutral; Nanum Gothic feels closer to local Korean taste and acceptance. Both are fine for most UI; choose Nanum for a native feel.
